WeekND Flix
Directed by Jordan Peele
With Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, and Catherine Keener
Rated R, 104 minutes, Blu-Ray

Nearly four years ago, Get Out screened as a sneak peek in the Browning Cinema prior to its national release. It was an unusually warm February day with a high near 70 degrees, which made for a defrosted and rowdy audience. Then, Jordan Peele was still best known for being half of Key & Peele; now, he's an Oscar-winner for this launchpad that infused Guess Who's Coming to Dinner with its latent horror/suspense.

When Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend (Allison Williams) travel to the country to visit her parents (Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford), their interracial relationship is met by both chilled and active hostility. As Chris's time unfolds at the wooded estate, stilted race relations underneath the community's Stepford veneer escalate in oddity and danger. The resulting we-gotta-get-outta-here tale stays true to the gothic genre as the lovers try to escape while keeping race relations under the microscope.

This is a free but ticketed event. Tickets will be available for reservation to Notre Dame students and their spouses one hour prior to the film's start.

Sponsored by the Meg and John P. Brogan Endowment for Classic Cinema.
