Dr. Alicia Bates is the Assistant Director of Student Programming where her responsibilities include late night and weekend programming and serving as advisor to SUB, JPW, and BCAC. Prior to this role, Alicia worked internationally at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, and she is always excited to talk about and encourage an international experience. In her free time, Alicia enjoys talking with her Grandma (Alice), hanging with her cat (Oliver), laughing at bad dad jokes and puns, traveling, and running. 

Alicia earned her Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Her dissertation topic was 'Gender and Race/Ethnicity Differences in Attitudes toward Social Media Use for Student Affairs Professional Development'. Alicia also earned her M.S. in College Student Affairs, with an emphasis in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and a B.S. in Mass Communication and Journalism from Methodist University.
