Leadership Institute: Emerging Leaders
The Leadership Institute: Emerging Leaders is a program designed to provide leadership education for first-year students at Notre Dame. Informed by the mission and goals of the University, LI seeks to:
- provide students with an awareness and comprehension of their selves and their leadership capabilities, in light of diverse leadership theories.
- aid students in determining their goals and passion for leadership and good work.
- To educate students on the importance of ethical leadership, and provide a safe environment to discuss and reflect on ethical leadership in our society today.
- give students the knowledge and tools to successfully work in a team.
- present students with the knowledge and tools to successfully communicate with others.
- instill in students a responsibility to the community.
- give students the opportunity to see the impact they can make on the community through change.
Participants will engage in large and small group discussion,
and reflective journaling. Participants will also complete a service project as a group, participate in an individual service opportunity, and complete outside projects. In addition, each participant will be paired with an experienced student leader mentor to guide the participant in their leadership journey. Participants will become familiar with the many opportunities to become engaged in campus activities at Notre Dame during and after the program has ended.
