Advisor Role

Finding the right balance toward what students and advisors expect can be challenging. The following exercise is intended to bring the issue of advisor involvement to the attention of the club leadership.

DIRECTIONS

  1. Read each statement carefully.
  2. Have the club or residence hall council president/officers check the box which best represents its view on the statement regarding the involvement of the club advisor.
  3. After the club or residence hall council members and/or officers has completed this, the advisor should do the same exercise on a separate printout.
  4. After both parties have completed the worksheet, someone should tally both the club or residence hall council advisor and club's or hall's answers on one worksheet.
  5. Compare the similarities and differences.
  6. Create a job description based upon the similarities found on the activity.
